It's not free. You still pay monthly. But it's like $3.47. This is for 911 service, directory, etc all other government required stuff. Not a big deal to me since I used to pay $30-40 per month over phone service. For those who are skeptical about it, BUY it. i have Ooma Telo, and it works perfectly.
But, you MUST have a good internet connection. I have $40 DSL plan, 4to7mbps downstream, and 700kbps upstream. They recommend having a plan with upstream of 350kbps or more.

Beware!!
They did not bother showing how to disconnect your Phone Company connection and how to install the Ethernet after the modem and then to the router! Setup is not as easy as this lady shows!

QUESTION: If I buy Ooma Telo in USA and register it in USA and send this Ooma to overseas like in Asia (Philippines) can you use it? Needless to say, buy and register Ooma in USA and send Ooma Telo to your relatives in overseas and let them use it to call you from Asia to USA ?
